Asian Insurance Forum 2021 draws expert insights into opportunities and challenges for the insurance industry in the new normal

The Asian Insurance Forum (AIF), a flagship event organised annually by the Insurance Authority (IA), will be held on 7 December 2021 under the theme of “Opportunities and Challenges in the Post-pandemic New Normal”.

“Our insurance industry has shown staunch commitment, remarkable resourcefulness and strong resilience in confronting COVID-19. It is an opportune moment for us to explore emerging prospects and get ready for challenges in the new normal,” said Mr Clement Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of the IA. “AIF 2021 provides an effective platform to share experiences in navigating through the torrents and build consensus on the way forward.”

Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will grace the event with her presence and deliver an opening address. Mr Jonathan Dixon, Secretary General of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR, have also agreed to give keynote speeches. Mr Bernard Chan, Convenor of Non-Official Members of the Executive Council, will make some concluding remarks.

The programme covers four discussion panels made up of financial regulators, C-suite executives, academic experts, venture capitalists and professional service providers, shedding light on a number of contemporary topics such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the dual circulation economic strategy, climate change and green finance, Fintech development 1 and regulatory outlook.
