16 November 2022

The Insurance Authority (IA)’s annual flagship event, the Asian Insurance Forum (AIF), will be held on 5 December 2022 under the theme “Reflect, Reset, Revive for a Resilient Future”. Attending the event will be top Government officials, prominent industry leaders, including C-suite executives from major multinational insurance groups, and other experts in town to reflect on market priorities and reset strategies, as the city comes back and regains growth momentum.

AIF 2022 will focus heavily on the future development roadmap for the insurance industry, leveraging Hong Kong’s unique advantages as a super-connector, bridging the Mainland and the rest of the world, and deepening our integration into national development under the principle of “One Country, Two Systems”.

Mr John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will grace the event with his presence and deliver the keynote address, acknowledging the industry’s contribution to reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as an international financial centre and regional insurance and reinsurance hub. Also in the morning session, Mr Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, will elaborate on the Government’s steadfast support and facilitative policy measures to drive the industry forward in a policy dialogue with Mr Clement Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of the IA. Kicking off the afternoon session will be a chat featuring Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary, and Mr Chan Kin-por, Non-Official Member of the Executive Council and legislator, in which they will revisit the cornerstones of success for Hong Kong’s insurance industry. Other heavyweight keynote speakers include Mr Liu Fushou, Chief Risk Officer of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and Mr Jonathan Dixon, Secretary General of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors.

The full-day event will also include three in-depth panel discussions joined by top industry leaders, academic experts and professional service providers on contemporary topics, namely – (1) the role of group-wide supervision framework as integral part of an international financial centre, (2) maximising the impact of Hong Kong in supporting the dual circulation strategy, and (3) supporting climate actions - collaboration, innovation and finance 1 .
