Insurance Authority signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Hong Kong Police Force to strengthen collaboration

The Insurance Authority (IA) and the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today (27 March 2024), setting out the framework between the IA and the HKPF to cooperate and provide guidance on matters such as case referrals, joint investigations, mutual investigative assistance and the exchange of information.

During the ceremony, Mr Peter Gregoire, Head of Market Conduct and General Counsel of the IA, stated that in signing this MoU, the IA and the HKPF have affirmed the joint commitment to ensuring that the insurance market is underpinned with integrity and trust so that it can continue to make its value contribution to maintaining Hong Kong’s position as a vital international financial centre.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ms Chung Wing-man, expressed enthusiasm about the milestone collaboration, stating that the power of the alliance extended far beyond the immediate benefits to the two organisations. It will strengthen the resilience of the regulatory framework and hence, the protection of members of the public.

The MoU was signed by Head of Enforcement of the IA, Ms Maria Tsui, and the Chief Superintendent of the Police Commercial Crime Bureau, Mr Yau Kin-hung. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Peter Gregoire and Ms Chung Wing-man, to further signify the importance and support of this partnership.
