Insurance Authority meets with Monetary Authority of Macao to discuss issues of common interest on conduct of insurance business and enforcement

Mr Peter Gregoire, Head of Market Conduct and General Counsel at the Insurance Authority (IA) and Ms Maria Tsui, Head of Enforcement at the IA led a delegation of conduct and enforcement colleagues to meet with their counterparts at Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) last week.

During the meeting, the regulators had in-depth discussions on current issues regarding conduct of insurance business common to both the Hong Kong and Macao insurance markets. Topics discussed included the sale of life insurance products to Mainland China visitors and enforcement strategies and recent actions taken to combat unlicensed cross-boundary selling. The parties agreed to maintain close dialogue and strengthen collaboration for the healthy and sustainable development of both markets.
