The Insurance Authority (IA) today (12 June 2024) alerted the public to a fraudulent website and email domain purportedly associated with the IA.
The IA has recently received public enquiries about suspicious emails from a fraudulent email address “support@ia-org[.]com”. The sender claimed to be an employee of the IA.
An IA spokesperson stated that the IA’s official email domain is “@ia.org.hk” and its official website is www.ia.org.hk. The fraudulent email address “support@ia-org[.]com” and website “www[.]ia-org[.]com” have no connection with IA.
Anyone who has provided personal information to the aforesaid website or email, or suspect that they have become victims of fraudulent acts, should report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
