The Insurance Authority (IA) today (5 August 2024) wishes to alert members of the public against suspected fraudulent promotion activities. A South Korea-based individual named Kang Seung-min (강승민) has been promoting via YouTube (https[:]//www[.]youtube[.]com/watch?v=6IWK5Xg0quM) false products and investment schemes purporting to be offered by “Sun Life” while they are not within the scope of business of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited (“Sun Life Hong Kong”), an authorized insurer of Hong Kong. Sun Life Hong Kong has confirmed that it has no connection with the aforesaid individual and the suspected fraudulent promotion activities.
Anyone who has provided personal information or conducted any transactions with the aforesaid individual should call Sun Life Hong Kong at (852) 2103 8928 and report the case to the local law enforcement.
