Insurance Authority warns against fraudulent mobile text messages

31 December 2024

The Insurance Authority (IA) today (31 December 2024) alerted the public to fraudulent mobile text messages from fraudsters under the name “AXA” to defraud personal or payment information. Recipients of the messages were asked to call a suspicious phone number by clicking a hyperlink embedded in the text messages to cancel the payment related to certain service agreements.

AXA Group1 has confirmed that it has no connection with such fraudulent mobile text messages. Anyone who has provided personal information to the fraudsters or has conducted any transactions through the fraudsters should notify AXA at (852) 2802-2812 or via email [email protected], and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.

The full list and contact details of authorized insurers in Hong Kong can be found on the Register of Authorized Insurers on the IA website.
