& United Nations Sanctions (Afghanistan) Regulation ("Regulation")
Further to my letters of 22 May 2003 , I am writing to advise you that an updated list of names designated by the relevant United Nations Security Council Committee was published in the Gazette (G.N. 4602 and G.N. 4801) on 11 July 2003 and 18 July 2003 in accordance with the Ordinance and the Regulation respectively. The gazetted lists are available on the Government (www.info.gov.hk/pd/content/index1.htm) under Gazette: Government Notice published on 11 July 2003 and 18 July 2003. To facilitate the update of your electronic database, a copy of the list in MS Word format is also available on the Insurance Authority's website(www.info.gov.hk/oci/framework/index04.htm).
The lists designated separately under the Ordinance and the Regulation are identical. Compared to the lists advised in my letter of 22 May 2003, information on the following individuals belonging to or associated with the Al-Qaida (List C) has been updated-
Item No. : 2, 10, 26, 29, 30, 47, 50, 53, 55, 64, 65, 67, 76, 83, 84, 85, 87 and 99.
In addition, the information on an individual, Mostafa Kamel Mostafa, has been updated under item no. 80 (previously item 18) on the list of individuals associated with the Al-Qaida (List C).
Accordingly, please check the designated names against your records and take appropriate steps to ensure compliance with the Ordinance and the Regulation. You should also report to the Joint Financial Intelligence Unit if any of the relevant names is identified.
