United Nations (Anti-Terrorism Measures) Ordinance ("Ordinance") & United Nations Sanctions (Afghanistan) Regulation ("Regulation")
Further to my letter of 30 September 2002 and 4 October 2002, I write to inform you that an updated list of names designated by the relevant United Nations Security Council Committee was published in the Gazette (G.N. 6918 and G.N. 6919) on 1 November 2002 in accordance with the Ordinance and the Regulation respectively. The gazetted lists are available on the Government website (www.info.gov.hk/pd/content/index.htm) under Gazette: Government Notice published on 1 November 2002. Please refer to the Annex for download instruction.
Accordingly, please check the names that appear on the lists against your records and take appropriate steps to ensure compliance with the Ordinance and the Regulation. You should also report to the Joint Financial Intelligence Unit (JFIU) if any of the names on the lists is identified.
United States Executive Order 13224 ("Executive Order")
Further to my letter of 22 October 2002, I wish to inform you that the US Government has designated additional names under the Executive Order issued on 23 September 2001. The latest list can be found in the website of the US Treasury (www.ustreas.gov/offices/enforcement/ofac/sanctions/terrorism.html) under names designated on 23 October 2002.
You should review your records carefully to see whether you have had, or currently have, accounts, transactions or dealing with those names identified in the above list. If such review reveals any suspicious accounts, transactions or dealings, you should promptly notify the JFIU.
